Compatibility guide

What is VESA? The hole pattern on the back of your TV or monitor — measured in millimeters, width × height.

VESA is the standard spacing of the four threaded holes on the back of your TV or monitor. A mount fits your display when it supports that hole pattern and the display's weight is within the mount's rated capacity. This page shows you how to measure your pattern and how QualGear lists compatibility.

How to measure

Measuring your pattern. A tape measure and two numbers — width, then height.

Step 1

Find the four holes

Look at the back of your TV or monitor for the four threaded mounting holes, arranged in a rectangle or square. They may sit under plastic caps or a stand bracket.

Step 2

Measure center-to-center

Measure center-to-center between holes: left-to-right is the width, top-to-bottom is the height, both in millimeters. Width × height is your VESA pattern — a display measuring 400 mm across and 400 mm down is 400×400 mm, about 15.7×15.7 in.

Step 3

Or check the manual

Not sure of your display's pattern? Check the manual or the manufacturer's specification page for your exact model — then compare it against the patterns listed on the mount's product page.

Common patterns

Patterns across the catalog. From 75×75 mm on monitor arms to 1000×800 mm on the largest TV mounts.

75×75 · 100×100 mm

Compact patterns

About 3×3 in and 3.9×3.9 in. These appear on monitor desk mounts and the smallest TV mounts in the QualGear catalog — the standard patterns for computer monitors and compact displays.

200×200 – 400×400 mm

Mid-size patterns

About 7.9×7.9 in up to 15.7×15.7 in. The most common band for mid-size TVs — QualGear tilting mounts and NPT-based ceiling brackets in this band cover patterns such as 200×200, 300×200, 300×300, 400×200, 400×300, and 400×400 mm.

600×400 · 800×400 mm

Large patterns

About 23.6×15.7 in and 31.5×15.7 in. Found on larger TV wall mounts — QualGear fixed and full-motion mounts for big screens list patterns up through this band.

900×600 · 1000×800 mm

The largest patterns

About 35.4×23.6 in and 39.4×31.5 in. These are the maximum patterns on QualGear's 60–100 in heavy-duty TV mounts. As always, confirm your display's exact pattern in the mount's complete list before ordering.

QualGear listings

How QualGear lists compatibility. Complete pattern lists on every mount page — read them in three seconds.

Complete lists

Every pattern, not just a maximum

Each QualGear mount page lists the complete set of VESA patterns it supports rather than an open-ended range. If your display's exact pattern appears in the list, the mount supports that pattern — no guessing between the minimum and the maximum.

On the page

Where to find it

On the product page, look for "Supported VESA hole patterns" — the patterns render in ascending order, width × height in millimeters, with the maximum pattern highlighted and tagged MAX.

Fit rule

Pattern plus weight equals fit

Fit is determined by the VESA pattern and the weight capacity — not by the screen diagonal alone. If your pattern is in the list and your display's weight is within the mount's rated capacity, the mount supports it.

How to choose a mount

VESA questions. Quick answers on patterns and fit.

How do I read a VESA pattern like 400x400 mm?
The first number is the horizontal distance between the display's mounting holes and the second is the vertical distance, both in millimeters — 400×400 mm is about 15.7×15.7 in. Check your display's manual or measure the hole spacing on the back, then compare it against the patterns listed on the mount's product page.
Why do QualGear product pages list every supported VESA pattern?
Each mount's page lists the complete set of VESA patterns it supports rather than an open-ended range. If your display's exact pattern appears in the list and the display's weight is within the mount's rated capacity, the mount supports that pattern. Fit is determined by the VESA pattern and weight capacity — not by the screen diagonal alone.
How do I know whether a TV or monitor mount is compatible?
Confirm the display's weight, the mount's screen-size range, the mounting-hole (VESA) pattern, and clearance requirements. Your equipment must fall within all published limits — meeting only one, such as screen size, is not sufficient.
Can I select a product based only on the equipment screen size?
No. Always verify weight capacity, mounting pattern, dimensions, clearances, hardware requirements, the supporting structure, and the installation conditions as well.
