Indoor golf

Indoor golf, planned around your room. Learn how a bay works, then pick home, venue or custom.

A golf simulator is six parts working in one room: launch monitor, screen and enclosure, projector, projector mount, hitting mat, and software on a PC. Each part is explained below, with how home and commercial bays differ and which package or build fits.

Home, commercial or custom. The room and the use decide the parts.

A home bay is built for one or two players and the room you already have. A commercial bay runs for hours a day, needs padding and tidy cable runs, and often repeats across several bays. Custom covers sloped ceilings, built-ins and rooms a standard enclosure does not fit. Pick the path that matches your space; each page links to the room guide, the packages and the builder.

How a simulator works

Six parts, one room. Each part depends on the one before it.

The launch monitor reads the strike. The software turns that into the shot and the projector puts it on the impact screen. The enclosure frames the screen and keeps the ball in the bay, the mount holds the projector clear of the club, and the mat is where you stand. Change one part and the others move: a different launch monitor changes the room you need; a different screen width changes the projector distance.

  1. Launch monitor

Measures ball and club data at each strike. Every unit we sell is camera-based, and most mount overhead.

    Read the launch monitor guide
  2. Screen and enclosure

The impact screen takes the ball and shows the image. The enclosure frames the screen and keeps the ball in the bay.

Read the enclosure and screen guide
  3. Projector

Puts the image on the screen. Throw ratio and brightness decide where it sits and how it copes with room light.

    Read the projector guide
  4. Projector mount

Holds the projector above and behind the hitting area, clear of the club path. QualGear projector mounts list a weight rating on each product page.

  5. Hitting mat

Where you stand and strike. Large enough for the stance and the hitting area.

  6. Software and PC

Simulator software runs on a PC or tablet and turns launch-monitor data into the round. We do not sell PCs; bring your own.

Start with your room

Measure before you choose. Ceiling, width and depth decide what fits.

Ceiling height matters for full swings. Width depends on handedness and whether players share the bay. Depth depends on the launch monitor: ceiling-mounted units need the mounting height band given on their product page and a stated distance from tee to screen. Enter your room in the builder and it checks each part where the maker states a size or a requirement. Where a figure is not published, it says so rather than guess.

  • Ceiling

Measure at the lowest point over the hitting area, under beams, ducts and door tracks. Our packages need a ceiling of 9 ft 2 in to 10 ft, depending on the package.

  • Width

Wall to wall across the bay. Our packages need 12 ft 4 in to 13 ft; shared left- and right-handed play needs room on both sides.

  • Depth

Screen wall to back wall. Our packages need 14 ft 9 in to 15 ft.

Packages by tier

Questions

Before you build

What does an indoor golf simulator include?
Six parts: a launch monitor that reads the strike, an impact screen inside an enclosure, a projector, a mount that holds it clear of the club, a hitting mat, and simulator software on a PC or tablet. Our packages include the first five plus an HDMI cable; the PC is yours, as we do not sell PCs.
Do I need a projector?
Not to start. A launch monitor and software can run on a monitor or tablet, and some players start with a practice net rather than a screen. A projector and impact screen give you a full-size image to hit into. If you add one, mount it above and behind the hitting area.
How much space does a simulator need?
Enough ceiling for a full swing, enough width for your handedness, and enough depth for the launch monitor and enclosure. Our packages need 12 ft 4 in to 13 ft of width, a ceiling of 9 ft 2 in to 10 ft and 14 ft 9 in to 15 ft of depth. The room guide and the builder check your own numbers.
Home or commercial: what's the difference?
The parts are the same; the use is not. A commercial bay takes strikes for hours a day from new players, so it calls for padding where the ball can reach, a hard-wearing mat and cable runs that stay out of reach. It often repeats across several bays, which changes width and projector placement.
Who ships golf products and handles support?
Golf products are sold by QualGear and fulfilled by our partners, who ship them directly and handle product support, warranty and returns. Contact us first and we will route your request. QualGear mounts, cables and cable management are our own products, with US-based support Mon–Fri 9–5 CT.
Do you install?
Installation and labor are not included; we recommend professional installation for commercial venues. For home bays, the setup guide walks through the seven steps in order, and it also lists what to ask a local installer if you would rather hire one.

Plan it, then build it. Measure the room, then choose a package or each part.
