Indoor golf

Planning a golf sim room. Ceiling height, depth, and width come first — the components follow.

Measure the room before you buy anything. This guide collects the space requirements published for the components in our indoor golf catalog — hitting mats, impact screens, practice nets, putting greens, and enclosure accessories from our golf specialist partner — plus the QualGear projector mounting that finishes the bay. Launch monitors, projectors, and simulator software are sourced separately.

Space checklist

Measure the room first. Every number here comes from a published component requirement — check your exact product's page before you build.

Ceiling height

Start at 8 ft — and check your swing

The SIGPRO golf net lists an 8 ft / 2.4 m room-height requirement, and its own guidance adds that you may need more than 8 ft ceilings if your swing requires it. Simulator curtains in the catalog come in 8, 9, and 10 ft / 2.4, 2.7, and 3 m ceiling variants.

Room depth

Leave room behind the ball

The net's published room requirement is 12 ft / 3.7 m of depth for a setup that itself measures 9 ft / 2.7 m deep with its side barrier netting. Deeper rooms give the ball, the screen, and the golfer more margin — you can always place a setup in a space larger than its listed requirement.

Room width

Width follows the screen

The net lists a 10 ft / 3 m room-width requirement. Impact screens in the catalog run from 7 ft 7 in / 2.3 m square up to 17 ft 6 in / 5.3 m wide — the screen size you choose sets the wall width the room has to offer.

The swing test

Swing the longest club first

Before committing to a layout, make sure you can swing your club comfortably in the space. Every screen, net, and enclosure component lists its own dimensions on its product page — check them against your room measurements, not the other way around.

Hitting surface

Mats, strips & turf

Hitting mats run from 4 × 5 ft / 1.2 × 1.5 m up to 4 × 10 ft / 1.2 × 3 m footprints, with 5 × 5 ft / 1.5 × 1.5 m options, plus hitting strips, turf, and simulator flooring to build the floor around them.

Impact screens

The wall you play into

Impact screens come in 1:1, 4:3, 16:10, and 16:9 aspect ratios, in sizes from 7 ft 7 in × 7 ft 7 in up to 10 ft × 17 ft 6 in — including sizes cut for specific enclosures. Match the aspect ratio to your projector and the size to your wall.

Practice nets

The compact alternative

The SIGPRO golf net sets up an 8 ft 6 in wide × 7 ft high × 9 ft deep / 2.6 × 2.1 × 2.7 m hitting bay with side barrier netting, and can take an impact screen on a separately sold top crossbar when you move to a projector setup.

Putting greens

Practice between sessions

Indoor putting greens include 3 × 8 ft / 0.9 × 2.4 m and 4 × 10 ft / 1.2 × 3 m sizes alongside larger contoured options — each green's product page lists its exact footprint.

Enclosure & room

Finish the room

Wall padding tiles in four sizes at 3 in / 7.6 cm thick, blackout curtains and ceiling track, 20 × 20 × 2 in / 50.8 × 50.8 × 5 cm peel-and-stick foam wall panels, baffles, and gap pads protect the room and darken the bay.

The details around the bay

Launch monitor protective covers, alignment docks, and enclosure flush mounts, plus a floor-mount projector shield that lets a short-throw projector sit on the floor instead of hanging from the ceiling.

The QualGear lane

Mounting is the QualGear part. Golf components from our partner, projector mounting from QualGear — one bay, two specialties.

QualGear AV

Projector mounting for the bay

QualGear projector mounts, Pro-AV ceiling adapters, 1.5-in NPT extension pipes, cables, and monitor mounts are used across indoor golf simulator installations — the mounting infrastructure that puts the projector where the screen needs it.

Spec first

What to have ready

For mounting help, have the projector make and model, projector weight, ceiling type and height, desired drop, room dimensions, impact-screen location, photos or drawings, and the required adjustment range. QualGear can identify potentially compatible Pro-AV components and provide specifications — the installer remains responsible for the complete configuration.

Dealer and commercial program

Two warranties

Know the boundary

QualGear-branded mounts and Pro-AV components carry the QualGear limited warranty (parts only) for their product family. Indoor golf items are covered by our golf specialist partner's warranty — the details are in the disclosure on each golf product's page.

QualGear warranty
